For authors
Write for Raising Stoics
We publish practical, evidence-based guides and research briefs for parents of young children. If you work professionally with children or study child development, and your work fits our topics, you can propose an article for Raising Stoics.
Who we're looking for
- Child and family psychologists, therapists, and counselors
- Pediatricians and other child-health professionals
- Early childhood and kindergarten educators with classroom experience
- Researchers in child development, education, or psychology
We ask for relevant professional training or experience. Lived experience as a parent is valuable, but on its own it isn't enough for this program.
Topics we cover
- Big feelings in children ages 3–8: anger, fear and worry, frustration, disappointment
- Self-control, waiting, patience, and persistence
- Resilience, coping skills, and bouncing back
- Empathy, kindness, fairness, and getting along
- Sleep, routines, screens, and family life as they affect behavior and feelings
- Social-emotional learning at home, in preschool, and in homeschool
- Research and data on any of the above, explained for parents
What we publish
- Guides for parents: a practical question answered in depth, around 1,500–2,000 words.
- Research briefs: one study or a group of studies explained honestly, including what they don't show, around 1,500 words.
- Data stories: a chart from public data with a clear takeaway for parents, around 1,200–1,500 words plus the data.
Our standards
- Claims about children's development or health are backed by credible sources: peer-reviewed research, or guidance from bodies such as the AAP, CDC, or NAEYC.
- We say what research does and doesn't show, including sample, ages, and limits.
- Plain, warm American English. No jargon without explanation, no fear-based headlines.
- Original work, not published elsewhere.
- We edit and fact-check every piece before publication, may ask for changes, and may decline a draft that doesn't fit.
- No paid placements, sponsored links, or product promotion.
- Your name, credentials, and a short bio appear with your work, and your bio can include a link to your own website.
