Baby Alive: what parents of kids 4–7 should know
Baby Alive dolls are labeled for ages 3 and up by Hasbro, and its product pages carry a warning: "Choking Hazard – Small parts will be generated. Not for children under 3 years." Many of the dolls eat doll food, drink, and wet a diaper, and Hasbro says the doll food isn't meant to be eaten and, for one doll, that it contains wheat. Some Baby Alive packs are surprises, such as Foodie Cuties, where you get one of eight babies. We found no CPSC or Health Canada recall of Baby Alive.

What is Baby Alive?

Kenner made the first Baby Alive in 1973, and Hasbro brought the brand back in 2006, according to Wikipedia. Children mix powdered doll food with water or use reusable doll food, feed the doll with a spoon, and change its diaper. The line also includes dolls for bath play, bottles, and smaller collectible dolls.

Baby Alive surprise packs
Short answer: Some are blind packs. ToyWiz sells Baby Alive Foodie Cuties mystery packs in which "kids won't know which baby" they'll get, one of eight, for $19.99 (Series 3), and lists them for ages 3 and up. We couldn't confirm the Foodie Cuties age label on Hasbro's own pages.
The habit kids may copy: feeding time
Children copy what they see at home: spoon, bottle, diaper, and a lot of talking to the baby.
Try tonight: what does baby feel?
When your child plays with a doll, ask: "How is your baby feeling right now? How do you know?" Let them name the feeling and what the baby needs. In our program, this is the lesson "Weather Inside": naming what you feel.
