What Hazbin Hotel is about

Hazbin Hotel is an American animated musical comedy for adults, created by Vivienne Medrano (studio SpindleHorse, with A24 and Amazon MGM Studios). It's set in hell, and it grew from a pilot posted on YouTube in 2019. It streams on Prime Video: season 1 premiered in January 2024 and season 2 ran from October to November 2025, with 8 episodes each.

Hazbin Hotel age rating: what's in it

Short answer: It's rated for adults in the UK and for mature audiences in the US.

  • UK (BBFC): 18 for the series; individual episodes are 15 or 18.
  • US: TV-MA per Common Sense Media's listing (mature audience only).
  • Germany (FSK): we couldn't find a rating.

The BBFC describes violence that is comic but frequently accompanied by gory images, strong language throughout, scenes of strong sex, and strong sex references. One season 1 episode is rated 18 for sexual violence. Common Sense Media lists self-immolation, shooting, stabbing, threats of sexual assault, a sex-worker character, drinking, and cocaine.

Why young kids know Hazbin Hotel

It's a colorful cartoon with songs, which can look like a kids' show. A Christian school's blog published a warning to parents about exactly that, and Movieguide covered an influencer's warning. Plush toys of the characters are sold online; per the retailer's listing, Entertainment Earth's plush is for adult collectors and not for children under 16.

Is there a Hazbin Hotel season 3?

Short answer: Yes, it's been renewed, but as of October 2026 there's no release date.

According to reports from April 2026, the show is renewed through season 5, which is planned as the final season.

The habit kids may copy: big words

Common Sense Media lists "a lot" of strong language, including the f-word, and the BBFC notes strong language throughout.

Try tonight: a word for the feeling

When your child is upset, give them a word that says what's inside instead of a word that shocks: "I'm so mad!" or "I'm so sad!" Say it together, loud, then quiet. In our program, this is the lesson "Weather Inside": naming what you feel.
