What is Lovevery?

Short answer: A subscription of toy boxes, each designed for a child's stage, from birth to age 5.

Each Play Kit has a name, such as The Looker (weeks 0 to 12), The Babbler (months 13 to 15), or The Persister (months 55 to 57). Lovevery says the kits for 4-year-olds practice flexible thinking, critical thinking, frustration tolerance, and planning ahead.

Lovevery age range: what the labels say

Short answer: Birth to 60 months.

  • 0–12 months: 6 kits, every 2 months, $88 each.
  • Ages 1, 2, 3, and 4: 4 kits a year, every 3 months, $132 each.
  • Last kit: The Planner, months 58 to 60.
  • Choking warning: Lovevery's product pages didn't load as readable text for us, so we couldn't confirm the official wording.

Has Lovevery been recalled?

Short answer: Yes, twice, both for choking hazards.

  • February 2022: the steel drinking cup with a handle in The Inspector Play Kit (ages 7–8 months). The handle could detach; about 169,000 were sold in the US. There were 70 reports, two with a child holding the handle in their mouth, and no choking injuries.
  • February 2024: some 2023 Slide & Seek Ball Runs from The Babbler Play Kit. A packaging change let wooden knobs get damaged in shipping, so a knob could come loose; about 47,000 were sold. No injuries were reported.

Both were voluntary recalls under the CPSC's Fast Track process, Lovevery says.

The habit kids may copy: waiting for the next box

A new box arrives every few months, timed to the next stage. Some kids start looking forward to the next box more than playing with the toys they have.

Try tonight: one old toy, new eyes

Pick a toy your child hasn't touched in a while. Play with it together for five minutes and find one new thing it can do. Ask: "What do we already have that's fun?" In our program, this is the lesson "Enough": noticing what's already here.
