What are Shopkins?
Short answer: Small collectible figures with faces, shaped like food, drinks, and things you'd find in a shop.
Moose Toys, an Australian toy company, first released them in 2014. Kids collect them by season; Wikipedia counts 17 seasons, the last in January 2023, and says the line was discontinued that year. In 2026, Moose Toys announced on its site that "the OG Shopkins are back." The line also included Shoppies dolls, playsets, and plush.
Shopkins: what's on the label
Short answer: Walmart lists Shopkins packs for ages 5 and up.
- Age: "5 years and up" on Walmart listings, such as the Season 4 2-Pack. Some building kits are listed 6+.
- Choking warning: we couldn't confirm the wording on an official page. The figures are small.
- Recalls: none found in the CPSC or Health Canada databases as of October 2026.
Are Shopkins blind bags?
Short answer: Many packs are. Moose Toys describes its limited Season 1 2-Pack as "two mystery characters tucked inside the iconic blue shopping basket," sold only at Five Below from December 2026. Walmart listings also include Super Shopper packs with Shopkins "hidden inside" and characters that may vary. We couldn't confirm the new pack's price.
The habit kids may copy: the missing one
Collections come with a checklist, and the one character you don't have can feel like the most important.
Try tonight: what we already have
Line up your child's figures, or any small toys, on the table. Ask them to tell you a story about each one. Then say: "Look how many friends you already have." In our program, this is the lesson "Enough": noticing what's already here.
