What does skibidi mean?

Short answer: Nothing fixed. It's a silly word.

Cambridge Dictionary, which added it in August 2025, says it can mean "cool" or "bad," or be used as a joke with no meaning at all. Kids also put it in front of other words, like "skibidi rizz" or "skibidi Ohio," mostly to sound funny.

Where skibidi came from

The word comes from the theme song of Skibidi Toilet, a YouTube series of short animated episodes that started in 2023, made by animator Alexey Gerasimov. The song repeats in every episode, often with dance moves, which is how kids picked it up. More about the series in our Skibidi Toilet parent guide.

Is skibidi a bad word?

Short answer: No. It's a nonsense word. The series itself has fantasy violence and grotesque imagery; Common Sense Media rates it 14+.

The habit kids may copy: the joke that won't stop

"Skibidi" gets a laugh the first time. Some kids keep going long after everyone else has stopped laughing.

Try tonight: still funny for everyone?

When a joke starts to wear thin, ask: "Is it still funny for everyone?" If not, your child picks: a new joke, or stop. In our program, this is the lesson "Two Roads": noticing that there's a choice.
