What is Steal a Brainrot?

Short answer: It's a Roblox collecting game where stealing from other players is the main move.

Players buy "brainrots," blocky versions of Italian Brainrot meme characters such as Tung Tung Tung Sahur, from a conveyor belt, or steal them from other players' bases. Each brainrot earns in-game money over time. Players defend their base with shields and traps, and "rebirth" to start over with better stats. The game launched in May 2025 and in October 2025 reached about 25 million players at once, a Roblox record.

Is Steal a Brainrot safe for kids? The facts

Short answer: It runs on Roblox, rated for ages 13 and up, and the game is built around losing things to other players.

  • Stealing: other players can take what your child collected. Videos of kids crying after losing their brainrots have spread widely on TikTok and YouTube.
  • Purchases: items can be bought with Robux, which cost real money. Parents can set a monthly spending limit, including zero, in Roblox parental controls.
  • Real-money resale: rare brainrots are sold on sites such as eBay and handed over by in-game trade, which Roblox's rules don't allow.
  • Other players: the game is multiplayer; chat depends on the Roblox account's settings. See our Roblox guide for account types and controls.

The habit kids may copy: it got taken, so I take back

When something gets stolen in the game, the next move is to steal it back. Some kids carry that into the playroom.

Try tonight: two baskets

When something gets taken, in a game or in real life, sort it out loud: "Can I control what they did? No. Can I control what I do next? Yes." In our program, this is the lesson "Two Baskets": what's up to me, and what isn't.

What the research says
