What is Grow a Garden?

Short answer: It's a Roblox farming game about planting, waiting, and selling.

Players buy seeds with in-game coins when the shop restocks, plant them, and harvest crops that keep growing even when they're offline. Pets hatch from eggs. A 16-year-old developer built the game in about three days and released it in March 2025; it became the fastest Roblox game to reach 1 billion visits.

Is Grow a Garden safe for kids? The facts

Short answer: It's a farming game with no violence, on a platform rated for ages 13 and up, with paid speed-ups, random pet eggs, and real-money resale.

  • Purchases: Robux, which cost real money, can skip waiting, unlock perks, and buy pet eggs with random results.
  • Resale and scams: rare pets and fruits are sold for real money on eBay and Discord, which Roblox's rules don't allow. Before the game added official trading, scams were common, including people pretending to be game admins.
  • Who plays: Roblox says about 35% of players have been 13 or younger.
  • Controls: parents can set spending limits and chat settings in Roblox parental controls. See our Roblox guide.

The habit kids may copy: pay to skip the wait

In the game, waiting is the obstacle, and Robux make it disappear. Some kids start to expect a shortcut for every wait.
