Why young kids know Freddy
Some young children know the characters from toys, merchandise, and online videos rather than the films or games. Some carry the fear to bed: lying awake, sure Freddy is in the room.
Try tonight: real, or a movie?
At bedtime, ask: "Is Freddy real, or a movie?" Then check the room together, lights on. The fear is real; the monster isn't. In our program, the lesson "True or made up" teaches this check.
